Insects…on the mend

Posted: July 31 2008 in Work

We’ve just done our second set of first day covers and presentation packs for Royal Mail special stamps. They’re really lovely jobs to work on, always interesting subjects. This one was about UK species of insects in recovery, these mini environmentalists are fighting back. Here’s a stat for you…there are estimated 200 – 300 million insects for every human!

If you’re feeling a bit philatelic you can buy the packs via the Royal Mail shop.

Our first job for them was the pack for the ‘Beside the seaside’ set of stamps. We commissioned Simon Calder to write about the joys of the British seaside and rummaged through our families photo albums for shots from the last century (Kat managed to find one from 1916).

QIA Creative and Media resources

Posted: July 31 2008 in Work

After starting about 18 months ago we’ve now completed our work for QIA as part of the Teaching and Learning change programme. We were part of a consortia put together by our friends at DESQ to develop innovative teaching and learning resources aimed at inspiring teachers and tutors delivering creative and media courses across England.

We developed the off-line resources that included ideas for teaching, games and CPD materials for the tutors themselves. Shaw and Shaw went across the country and photographed classrooms and teaching environments for us. Our work set the tone for all the other subject areas and its now being rolled out to support the e-learning aspect of the project.

This was one of those projects that proved really good collaborative working can produce great results.
