Helping tomorrow’s Richard Bransons

One of the traditional strengths of the UK is an entrepreneurial spirit that means we often punch way above our weight when competing with the very best from around the world. But where will tomorrow’s talented and energetic business thinkers come from if we don’t support, mentor and encourage them today? A recognition of this need to unlock the talents of young people sits behind an ongoing campaign of activities and initiatives by Make Your Mark and Iris are delighted to have recently won a pitch to handle two key communications projects for them.

Global Entrepreneurship Week UK is the biggest and most high-profile celebration of enterprise, featuring thousands of inspiring events and activities, while the Make Your Mark Challenge is a one-day enterprise competition for students aged 14-19. In 2008 there were over 6000 events and over 6.5 million people took part in the UK alone.

Global Entrepreneurship Week was created by Make Your Mark in the UK and the Kauffman Foundation in the US. Seventy seven countries took part in the events and some 25,000 events took place globally in the same week, involving over 3 million participants. From 2004 – 2008, it was called Enterprise Week, and part of Iris’s brief is to rebrand the initiative as Global Entrepreneurship Week UK.

The two projects will involve a range of communications aimed at students, teachers, businesses and partner organisations including government stakeholders. The campaign will include flyers, newsletters, information packs, posters, postcards, display stands and a variety of promotional giveaway items.
