To fit the bill you’ll need 3-5 years relevant agency experience of handling multiple digital projects and the ability to liaise with clients, designers, developers and suppliers. In essence, we’re looking for that rare beast, the digital all-rounder. Someone with a solid grasp of digital strategy and creative solutions, an up-to-date understanding of the digital marketplace and technology, good workflow and budget management skills, an ability to formulate and present digital projects and excellent people skills to keep our expanding roster of clients (and our talented bunch of digital designers and developers) happy. Triple win at Cream Yorkshire Awards

We are delighted to announce we won no less than three awards at the recent Cream Yorkshire Awards 2010 event held at The Mint in Leeds last week. Our TV ad for Yorkshire Water featuring Yorkshire’s two thriftiest grannies, Edna and Mary, won a Commendation in the Broadcast category, our modern British retro brand refresh for Little Chef won an Award in the Corporate Identity category, and our Made Magazine showcasing Sheffield’s culture, business, sport and food for Creative Sheffield won a Commendation in the Publications and Annual Reports category.

We’ve been nominated for three Cream Yorkshire awards

Our best bib and tucker is back at the dry cleaners again after we heard that some of the work we’ve created in the last year has picked up nominations for The Cream Yorkshire Awards 2010. Our Edna and Mary tv campaign for Yorkshire Water has been nominated for an award in the Broadcast category, our Little Chef rebrand work has picked up a nomination in the Corporate Identity category and our Made Magazine for Creative Sheffield is in the running for an award in the Publications and Annual Reports category. A thoroughly British appointment for Iris

We’re delighted to have been appointed to the British Council’s graphic design roster. This is an excellent achievement given that the new roster contains fewer than half the number of consultancies that were on the previous roster.

The roster was assembled through a ‘blind’ pitching process, in which the British Council viewed creative work without knowing who was responsible for it. It speaks volumes for our creative work that it is able to compete with some of the very best in the country to secure a place on this prestigious roster.

The reduced number of consultancies is a deliberate strategy by the British Council aimed at building closer relationships with agencies to help them manage their brand consistency better.

The British Council is the UK’s international cultural relations body with a mission to connect the UK to the world and the world to the UK. Its activities – whether in the arts, science, sport, English teaching, climate change or education – are aimed at nurturing greater trust and understanding between different countries and cultures. They also build strong international links to and from Britain, opening doors for the UK onto the rest of the world and for the world back to the UK.

We are very much looking forward to helping them with their objective of giving people – both in Britain and across the hundred-plus countries they work in – opportunities to learn, share and connect worldwide.

Shiny new Iris people

We’ve strengthened our team with some new people in the last couple of months and they’re already fitting in nicely. Let’s take a closer look at them…

First up, Fran Kay our new Senior Account Manager. Fran comes to us from a design agency in Nottingham, where she worked on brands like E.ON, Hanson and BT. Before that Fran worked client-side and got to see a bit of the world, presenting to clients in America, Hong Kong, China, Europe etc. She studied Sociology at Bristol University and also has a Professional Diploma in Marketing (CIM). After 6 years in Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire-born Fran reckons it’s“reet good” to be back in God’s county: “I’ve already been told my accent’s getting stronger… and I’ve only been here 5 days!”. When she’s not working at Iris, she can often be found in a tent in a muddy field. A seasoned Glastonbury Festival goer, Fran tries to get to lots of gigs and even travelled to Berlin to see Kings of Leon last summer.

And then there’s, Ian Parr, our new web developer who says he is “just happy to be here!”. He says there’s nothing interesting to know about him but we beg to differ. Not only does Ian have a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and four years experience in design agencies as a web developer, plus ten years building for the web but in his spare time he’s also a director for a charity. Catch21 Productions, is a Westminster-based independent video-producer with the aim of increasing political engagement among young people. Ian is responsible for online content and distribution systems including the provision of online video. He’s already worked with the Independent newspaper, Parliament, and the Community Channel.
